Nigeria Joins the World in Developing Rope Skipping in Schools. The Ondo State Rope Skipping Association is organizing a Two-day Interschool Rope Skipping Championship among pupils of primary and secondary schools in the state. The championship which was scheduled to hold on 7th and 8th of October 2021 was postponed to 4th and 5th of November 2021 due to schools resumption and admission activities in the state. This is first of its kind in sports development in Nigeria. About One Hundred and fifty students from various primary and secondary schools will compete in Masters and Double Dutch events to include Single Rope Speed Sprint, Double Under, Criss-cross, Single Rope Endurance, Double Dutch Sprint, Speed Relay and Double Dutch Speed Relay. The championship is to spread the sport of Rope Skipping among school pupils as it will also help improve their health status. The interschool rope skipping is expected to spread to other states across the country.
